ERE (emissiereductie-eenheden)

ERE’s (Emissiereductie-eenheden) worden ingevoerd om te sturen op CO₂-reductie in de transportketen en zo te voldoen aan Europese duurzaamheidswetgeving. De voorwaarden voor het creëren van ERE’s uit onder andere elektriciteit worden vastgelegd in nationale wet- en regelgeving en bevatten eisen waaraan de eigenaar van de laadpaal moet voldoen om ERE’s te kunnen creëren.

  • Identificeerbare aansluiting: de levering moet gekoppeld zijn aan een specifieke elektriciteitsaansluiting (EAN) en locatie.

  • Meetbare inkoop van elektriciteit: Documentatie waaruit blijkt dat elektriciteit is ingekocht voor de betreffende aansluiting, bijvoorbeeld energie-inkoopfacturen gekoppeld aan de EAN-code.

  • Meetbare levering van elektriciteit aan vervoer: Data over de geleverde elektriciteit voor laden, zoals laadsessiedata of andere meetgegevens die de geleverde kWh aan voertuigen onderbouwen. De levering moet worden vastgesteld via MID-gecertificeerde laadpunten, of via een aansluiting die exclusief voor vervoer is bestemd.

  • Machtiging bij inboeking door derden: wanneer een inboekdienstverlener namens een aansluitinghouder inboekt, moet een geldige machtiging aanwezig zijn.

  • Controleerbare administratie: gegevens over levering, meting en inboeking moeten controleerbaar zijn door een onafhankelijke verificateur.

  • Aanvullende gegevens bij ondernemingen: Naam en vestigingsadres van de onderneming, handelsregisternummer (KvK), naam en handtekening van de vertegenwoordigingsbevoegde.

  • Aanvullende gegevens bij natuurlijke personen (consumenten): Naam en handtekening van de aansluitinghouder, bewijs van de aanwezigheid van laadinfrastructuur en meetgegevens van de geladen elektriciteit. Daarnaast dient de persoon dient in het Centraal Aansluitingenregister geregistreerd te staan als eigenaar van de aansluiting;

What are ERE’s and how do they work?

ERE’s are tradable emission reduction units linked to renewable electricity used in transport. They are introduced under RED III and form part of Dutch climate policy to reduce CO₂ emissions in mobility.

In practice:

  • Electricity used for EV charging can generate ERE’s if strict conditions are met.
  • Fuel suppliers and other obligated parties must obtain ERE’s to meet renewable energy targets.
  • ERE’s can therefore be sold.
  • Generation applies retroactively from 1 January 2026. Booking takes place after year-end in the national registry (REV).

Participation is conditional. Volumes must be verified, documented, and booked correctly. ERE’s function like a regulated incentive scheme, not an automatic reward.
