How does it work?

How does charging an electric car work?

Look for a charging station in your neighbourhood via the app or our website.

Plug your charge cable in the car and in the socket of the charger.

Hold your E-Flux charge card in front of the RFID-reader. The charge session will start.

Check whether the session has started. This will be shown via the infotainment.

Is your EV 100% charged? Swipe your card to unlock the cable and the session will be ended. Dependent on the CPO, the session will appear in your account immediately.

Charge time EV

How long does it take to charge an electric car?

When switching to an electric car a big fear that many people have, is that it takes long to fully charge the battery of an EV. This is actually not true.

Fast charging

Fast chargers like those at Fastned and Ionity are able to fully charge the battery of an EV within 30 minutes. You mostly find these fast chargers around highways.

Charging at home

How long does it take to fully charge an EV at home? This depends on the type of charging point and the size of the battery, but when we are talking about a ‘normal’ EV and a standard charging point (AC-charge point) it will take around 7 hours to charge it from empty to full.

Costs of electric driving

How much does it cost to charge an electric car?

The costs for charging an EV depend on the size of its battery. In this example we use an Opel Corsa-e, a midrange EV with a battery capacity of 45kWh and an average use of 170Wh per kilometer. Below we display three scenarios:

Thuis laden

Charging at home

An average charging session at a charging station at home takes 10 hours. During these 10 hours, an AC charging station charges an average of 40-50 kWh. In the Netherlands, approximately 1 kWh costs € 0.23 incl. VAT

Publiek laden

Public charging

Public charging stations are more expensive per kWh than private charging stations. The rate of a public charging station is between € 0.30 and € 0.59 per kWh. This differs per charge point operator. E-Flux charges only the price 1-to-1 without additional costs.

Fast charging

Fast charging is the fastest way to charge your car. However, this more expensive than "AC" charging. The most common rate is around € 0.60 per kWh. This means that you spend an average of € 0.10 per kilometer in energy costs.

My charge card is lost or stolen, what should i do?

Send an email to support@e-flux.nl with your name and charge card number. We block the charge card for you. You can request a new charge card or tag from the E-Flux dashboard.

I have not received my charge card, what next?

All orders that we receive before 4:00 PM will be shipped the same day. For destinations in the Netherlands, we keep a maximum of 2 days delivery time. It can sometimes take longer, depending on how busy PostNL is. Is the charge card not delivered within 5 days? Please call us. We can always send a new charge card.

How can I request an extra charge card?

You can easily add another E-Flux charge card via your account. Log in, go to ‘My cards’, and request another one. You can do this also for someone else. Both cards have the same invoice address.

How long does it take to charge my car?

The full charging of a battery is due to several factors. This depends on the type of charging station and the car. On average, it takes between 6 and 10 hours to fully charge a battery. If you are on the road and your battery is about to run out, you don’t want to wait for 6 to 10 hours until your battery is full again. In this case, you can use fast chargers. These are often located along highways, for example, FastNed stations are well-known. With these fast chargers, you can usually charge the battery 80% full within 30 minutes. Of course, you also need a charge card for this.

Can I charge everywhere in the Netherlands with the E-Flux charge card?

In the Netherlands you can charge anywhere with the E-Flux charge card or tag. There is also a wide reach in the Benelux.
